Government House
Government House in Hobart serves as the official residence of the Governor of Tasmania. Widely considered one of the finest vice-regal residences in the Commonwealth, the building was designed by colonial architect and Director of Public Works, William Porden Kay. It stands as an impressive example of an early Victorian Gothic Revival country house and is among the largest structures of its kind in Australia.
Scope Of Work

The Clock Tower features an octagonal, lead-lined roof where we replaced the box gutters with 40kg/m² lead, incorporating expansion joints.

We also installed new lead bay roofs, hand-crafted in 40kg/m² lead, in keeping with traditional heritage roofing standards.

Cover flashings were installed using 25kg/m² lead, carefully fitted to the stonework to ensure durability and a high-quality finish.

The original lead roof, installed in 1852, included an internal lead downpipe and sump. The downpipe remained in good working condition at the time of the roof replacement, so it was essential that the works did not impact its functionality.

Each side of roof was hand crafted with experienced lead roofers installing lead sheet back to the police tower in Hobart.
