Scope of work
Architectural Roofing Services, undertook a major roof restoration project at a prominent heritage site at 1 William Street, Sydney NSW 2000.
The work involved designing detailed roof flashing to protect façade of the heritage building. Further, installing copper flashing detail to stonework and provide continuous fixing detail and apply Geo-fabric underlay to stonework.
The lead sheet was installed in sections with welted joints to allow for expansion and contraction along stone façade of a building. Each level of the building area required expertise heritage detail restoration to correctly install lead flashings and lead sheet. The lead was shaped and folded to heritage principle to suit the stonework and lead welded corners detailing high-quality skilled workmanship. The newly installed lead was coated with patination oil and all lead joints into stonework sealed with an elastomeric joint.
Lead sheet and lead flashing is durable, long-lasting roofing material used all over the world. When installed correctly by an experienced lead worker, lead sheeting and lead flashings will last a lifetime and preserve the building fabric for generations to come.
